From the 1st to the 9th of August, 2018, the International Congress of Mathematicians took place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), which is one of the most influential scientific events in the field of mathematics in the world and comprehensively covers theoretical and applied aspects of modern mathematics. This year, 3080 mathematicians from 114 countries have joined in. The Congress was organized by the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mathematics (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada, IMPA) and the Brazilian Mathematical Society (Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática, SBM).

Representative of Sumy State University, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Complex Systems Modeling – Kozlova Irina Ivanovna, received a grant under the Open Arms Travel Grant Program to participate in the congress and presented a report on the topic «The delta-subharmonic function of completely regular growth in the upper half-plane».

The congress program consisted of presentations laureates of Fields awards, plenary reports, sections in various areas of mathematics, ranging from mathematical logic to problems of mathematical education and the history of mathematics, an exhibition of mathematical societies and organizations, and was filled with various events and cultural programs.
